Emily Dickinson wrote almost 2,000 poems, most of which remained unpublished before her death in 1886. Since then, she has achieved cult status in American literary history. Lanarkshire based songwriter John Hinshelwood recently released a critically acclaimed CD of songs he composed using Dickinson’s poems. The songs, supplemented by linking narrative and readings on the poet’s life and times, form the focal point of the show.
The performers are Tim Black (guitars, mandolin, vocals), John Hinshelwood (vocals, guitar), Ed McGlone (electric bass, Chapman Stick, vocals), Fiona Wellstood (narrator).
