Biggar Little Beer Festival 2017

Biggar little beer festival is in it’s third year at the CAMRA Glasgow and West of Scotland pub of the year, The Crown Inn Biggar. This year a total of 40 real ales will be showcased with the emphasis being our great local breweries such as Broughton, Stewarts, Strathaven, Freewheelin’ Peebles, Campervan and many more. Festival starts Thursday night each weekend and finishes Sunday night. Casks start flowing 6pm Thursday and from midday Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Craft beers and ciders also showcased to make this a festival not to be missed...

Chris Dolan's "Just about write"

Biggar Library are delighted to have Chris join them for his genre defying tour of contemporary Scottish literature and not least his own body of work. Chris’s own work over 25 years encompasses fiction, biography, crime, radio drama, adaptations and musical libretti. And, of course his plays, the latest of which "The Cause of Thunder” came to Biggar earlier this year as part of a 31 date Scottish tour.Chris talks about the different processes required for these forms. He’s also a songwriter – composing a song for each new book. But if you ask him very nicely he’ll put down the guitar.A varied evening of Who’s Who and How It’s Done in Scottish letters and drama...

Claire is a local, young self taught graphite pencil artist. Having been brought up in the farming industry the focus of her artwork is farm animals, wildlife and pet portraits through commission work. Claire spends 6 months of the year working for a Livestock Artificial Breeding Company and is also heavily involved in Sheering Sheep in Norway and New Zealand…all of which increases her passion for drawing through meeting many potential clients and their animals from all corners of the world. Join us 10 to 4pm daily from the 19th to 29th October where you can enjoy some refreshments while you browse Claire’s original drawings, limited edition prints and wide selection of homeware that is all for sale...

Living on the Land

An exhibition of photography and poetry celebrating nature, the seasons and the farming community who live on the land in and around Crawfordjohn. A collaboration between artist Carol Taylor and published writer Dee Yates, with film contributions from David Barton. Limited edition Giclee prints, framed and unframed, with accompanying poetry; greetings cards; books of photographs and poetry, and aerial films of local landscape. All proceeds of sales to Crawfordjohn Heritage Venture, a registered museum which highlights the rural history of the area.
