This celebration of local and regional produce
will showcase the quality food and drink offering available from this charming
coffee shop and delicatessen located in the heart of the historic village of
Douglas. Participants will enjoy afternoon teas (by prior
arrangement only), tasting sessions and be able to indulge in a selection of
artisan spirits and cocktails in the comfort of our licensed premises. Visitors will also be able to visit the Open
Studio of our neighbour, Carol Taylor, whose work will be hung in The Scrib
Tree for the duration of the Festival and throughout October.
I am looking forward to welcoming you into my stained-glass
workshop in its prime location just off the High Street. I will have several items
to showcase in foil, lead- and metalwork. As always, I am happy to demonstrate
and explain different techniques. Along with the beautiful and colourful glass,
you will be able to see the other materials, tools and chemicals I work with. This
time of year, I change over my stock and will be selling end of line items at
significantly reduced prices. Make sure you grab a few bargains while enjoying

Christine carves deeply into glass, porcelain
and Optical Crystal, using both a sandblaster and a hand engraver. She works
mostly to Commission – for celebrations, birthdays, weddings etc. She Creates
lamps with her own hand made porcelain bowls, etching deeply to allow the
subtle light to come through. Veronica specialises in people/animal portraits
and landscapes in oil, pastel and acrylic. Many of her landscapes are of the
local area. She often uses her 8 grandchildren as models for her figurative
work and her own/friends photos for her lively animal paintings. Her studio is
in New Lanark… but on the trail will be
sharing Woodend Studio, 61 Waterloo Road, Lanark. ML11 7QW with Christine.

My artworks are inspired by the views and nature of everyday life. I'm very influenced by the en plein air experience. Nothing beats painting outdoors in the elements. Currently living in the Scottish Borders; previously lived in the Western Isles and in Greece, which has given me a rich depth of visual templates. Felted pictures using wet & dry technique. I love wildlife, in particular puffins which I first saw in Shetland and I love to create the feeling of movement in flight or stillness as I capture the wee beauties. I have felted for many years and work as a glove puppeteer, so bringing to life, a picture is what I like doing. Liz and Paul produce a range of individual ceramic wall art

Mask Making workshop at Biggar Museum 1pm-2.30pm
All ages welcome. Come join us to make a face mask of your own creature. We will use recycled cardboard and any other suitable materials to bring the faces to life. With the costume exhibit at the museum to encourage and spur us on, we will then head out to the Halloween Party at Legion Hall.

"In the Wild Garden" is the theme the Biggar Botanical Art Group are presenting from their collections of paintings, drawings, and coloured pencil pictures, all for sale, at the Open Studio at Kirk Burn Gallery in Symington. Liz makes a range of decorative and functional stoneware that is oven, microwave and dishwasher proof and good enough to use every day.
