Biggar little beer festival is in it’s third year at the CAMRA Glasgow and West of Scotland pub of the year, The Crown Inn Biggar. This year a total of 40 real ales will be showcased with the emphasis being our great local breweries such as Broughton, Stewarts, Strathaven, Freewheelin’ Peebles, Campervan and many more. Festival starts Thursday night each weekend and finishes Sunday night. Casks start flowing 6pm Thursday and from midday Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Craft beers and ciders also showcased to make this a festival not to be missed...

Remember Pride & Prejudice? Recall the moment when Mr Darcy danced with Elizabeth Bennet?   How would you describe it – graceful? elegant?  Not quite Strip the Willow, but it’s not so different.English Country Dancing is very similar to Scottish – just more relaxed. Dances are Reels, Jigs, Waltz time and smooth "triple time” in a variety of rhythms and paces. Steps are walking, skipping and skip change.  Formations are in 3 or 4 couple sets, long sets, squares and circles.  Music is based on traditional and classical tunes played in a driving, rhythmic style.
